My own little blog.
These are all the SMW hacks that I've finished over the years, well, mostly finished, my main hacks that everybody needs to check out, so check 'em out. Each title of the hack is a link to where you can download said hack.

How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bob-omb

This wasn't the first hack I created, but I felt it was the first hack I got right. The first hack where everything came together and seemed to really get a good response out of the people who played it. It's not perfect, but it was well on its way.

I have this thing for parodying titles for SMW hacks, but then having the hack itself have nothing to do with the movie I parodied. In this case the movie is Dr. Strangelove.

I made this in the summer of 2009 and it only has 5 levels, so it should be a short pick-up and play like nearly all of my hacks.

Kuribo_Shoe: the Adventure

This hack was when I was going through a weird online phase of calling myself Kuribo_Shoe. Cool name, but it never stuck. Anyway, the idea is that instead of growing into big Mario when you get a mushroom in this hack, you get into the Kuribo Shoe, or wind-up boot, as it were.

The level design in this hack is probably the best I've done to date. People don't give this one enough credit, I really splurged on the vanilla at the time. I was just learning how to combine good looking palettes, and how to exanimate. Speaking of exanimation, the secret level is probably one of my favorite levels I've ever made. I just really went overboard with the color exanimation.

This one was made just after my previous hack, as a way to continue exploring SMW hacking and getting a response out of the people at SMWCentral.

What is This I Don't Even

This one is just plain silly. I was beginning to play around with different level gimmicks and had a bunch of great ones I wanted to explore. I have a test ROM where I conduct various experiments before I follow through and implement them into hacks. This ROM had about 10 great ideas, I decided to just turn into levels. They are all non-sequiturs and don't really make any sense.

Unfortunately, the level design is pretty weak here. I was burning out of level design and focused more on a level's gimmick than its overall presentation. Enjoy it simply for the craziness of it all, don't judge its sub-par level design.

I made this in 2009, though I didn't finish it until Christmas of 2010. I released the first demo, with only the first world completed, to SMWCentral, but the next demo I just put into by filebin. I felt rereleasing it with completed, yet still sub-par levels wouldn't please anyone. So if you want to try it, than do so, but be assured I can do better.

Mario and the 5 Golden Eggs

This was my baby. I had conceived this one for a while as being my new feature length hack. Unfortunately I burned out after roughly a world and a half was completed. Such promise, lost. Though the end result was still pretty amazing.

The level design was just great this time.I just want to say I really nailed palettes at this point. I just got it down and that became one of my specialties in hacking Super Mario World. I just feel that this hack looks particularly beautiful.

This is another one people don't give enough credit to. I think that at the time I released it, nobody was making anything worth while, and my notion was, "Oh hey I'm gonna knock them out of the park with this one." However, people just sort of brushed this one off as just another good choconilla hack. I guess sometimes that's just what happens, but, eh, I really wanted this to be the one. I took a little break after this one, for various reasons. Again, eh. The uh, overworld is just plain weird, sometimes it lets you go to the castle, sometimes not. So if your demo ends before the castle, just go fix it in Lunar Magic. Sorry about that.

This was in production from the get-go of 2009, but didn't get "finished" until May of 2010. Will I revisit it? No, most likely not. But it's nice to think about. If I would've kept going it most likely would've slowly fallen apart and not be as good as it could have been. I think I stopped while it was at the top.

Insert Coin

GOD. This one took forever to complete. And you know what, IT'S ONE LEVEL. But there's a reason for it. I collaborated with noon, a cool guy I found on YouTube who happens to be pretty good at hacking. We basically had a system that worked, but was hell because we would always be sending back .mwl files for notes from the other person. There was literally more than 80 emails sent back and forth total. Crazy, just, I'm so happy it's over.

The level itself was an utter success! This level has tons of great elements to it and as a result people really responded to it and it later got featured on SMWCentral, which is pretty cool. I still felt Mario and the 5 Golden Eggs should've been featured too, but eh.

This got finished towards the end of 2010. Again, took longer than it should have, but it was nearly perfect as a result. Give it a try.
